# Holiday Gift Giving: A How-To-Guide for Human Resources Professionals

Preparations for the holidays are in full swing. For corporate human resource professionals, seasonal responsibilities include employee and valued customer gift giving responsibilities. Creating, coordinating, and overseeing corporate gifting programs can be challenging, especially with the evolution of work arrangements. The process of curating, sourcing, and delivering gifts requires forethought and coordination.

To discover how HR professionals feel about seasonal corporate gifting, WeGift conducted a survey:

> _Delightfully, 80% of respondents shared that they enjoy the responsibility and only 9% reported dreading it._

Despite positive feelings, challenges persist:

- 23% of respondents rated their co-workers as the most difficult people to shop for.
- Nearly 25% reported spending (at least) a full day’s time researching, selecting, packaging, and sending corporate holiday gifts.
- 63% believe their co-workers like the gift received “a lot.”

#### **Giving what employees want**

Gift giving can be complex. Some businesses choose to give cash or bonuses; however, cash can feel impersonal. A separate survey by WeGift found that:
- 80% of respondents who received a corporate holiday gift would be happy to receive gift cards.
- Cash came in second at 68%.

Survey respondents also mentioned strange gifts they received, including underwear, socks, and jumper cables!

Human resource professionals emphasize the significance of thoughtful gifting:

- The majority of co-workers will value a holiday gift, enhancing engagement and retention.
- Gift giving doesn’t have to be time-consuming. Gift cards can be a universally loved option, providing choice and memorable experiences.
- Undergarments are **_not_** a desirable gift—avoid them at all costs!
